We’re looking for a Repairs Inspector to join our Responsive Repairs team in Portsmouth! Whilst your contractual base is Portsmouth, you’ll be working on housing stock across the South Hampshire and surrounding areas. You’ll have use of a company van and fuel card for your work travel.

As a Repairs Inspector, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring the quality, safety and compliance of all works delivered through our responsive repairs service. Working independently, you’ll carry out health and safety inspections, post-work quality checks, contractor monitoring and customer visits to ensure repairs are completed safely, meet required specifications and achieve a right-first-time standard.
Acting as a key quality assurance presence across the business, you’ll help drive high standards of workmanship, customer satisfaction and regulatory compliance.
What you’ll be doing (non-exhaustive list):
This is a varied role where no two days are the same. As a Repairs Inspector, you'll be responsible for ensuring repairs are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest possible standard. Your duties will include:
To be successful in this role, you’ll have a strong understanding of responsive repairs, void property standards and relevant housing legislation, together with a sound knowledge of Decent Homes Standards, HHSRS, Awaab's Law and building safety requirements.
You'll have an awareness of key compliance areas including gas, electrical, asbestos, fire safety and water hygiene, and be able to confidently inspect properties, identify defects and spot areas of non-compliance.
With excellent attention to detail, you’ll produce clear and accurate inspection reports, challenge poor workmanship where necessary and ensure appropriate corrective actions are implemented.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as you'll work closely with customers, contractors and colleagues to achieve positive outcomes. You’ll also have a practical and solution-focused approach to problem solving, and be confident using mobile technology, inspection systems and Microsoft Office applications to support the effective delivery of the service.
A full, clean current driving licence (held for at least 1 year) is needed so you can drive one of our vans when necessary. Offers are subject to satisfactory driving licence checks.
